I’ve been making money online since February 2006.
I created a guide for a video game that I liked to play. I started an auction on eBay and sold $1400 worth of $5 guides in my first week!
My friends and family were all shocked (as was I). And even though I kept my full-time job, I made half my salary again by selling my guide on eBay.
Alas, sales declined over time. Increase in competition, and changes in eBay policy made it more and more difficult to keep the income streaming. But I was somewhat addicted to making money online. I was forced to learn other ways to create income.
Since then I’ve read everything I could about Internet Marketing…eBooks, message forums, mailing lists, etc. And I’ve tested lots of options. I’ve found some that work and some that don’t.
I prefer to focus on the ones that don’t cost any money up front. Anyone can spend $1000 and get traffic to their website. But if they only make $500 back, that’s no good. I’d rather make $200 without spending a dime. If it works well enough, then I can invest some of that money back into it.
I’ve had to explain some of the same principles over and over to my friends who wanted to make money online. My sister-in-law, my boss, my friend next door…they all were interested.
Finally, one night the topic came up while running with some neighborhood guys. One evening while jogging I spent the entire time talking about Internet Marketing. It occurred to me that I ought to create one more website…one with all of my learnings from the past few years. If I had known then what I know now, I could have made tens of thousands more dollars. I left alot on the table in my ignorance.
So, since it’s easy enough to create this blog and dump my learnings here, I’m hoping that you might benefit from it, too!
All the best,
Matt
